A new book has recently been released by Diwan Publishing titled “Sameh Al Tawil, the Multimedia Artist: A Critical Analytical Study” by the esteemed art critic Fatma Ali.
This work is a critical analytical study—a monograph—that traces the journey of artist Sameh Al Tawil, beginning with his early days in Cairo, through his migration to Germany, and up to the present. About the Artist: Sameh Al Tawil
Born in Cairo in 1978, Sameh Al Tawil is an Egyptian-German visual artist currently based in Frankfurt, Germany. He is distinguished for his dynamic approach to contemporary art, blending visual and digital arts with performance and music. His interdisciplinary practice transcends traditional boundaries, employing advanced techniques such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR).
Al Tawil’s work explores complex themes such as identity and freedom within the context of contemporary sociology and geopolitics. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Egypt, a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, and has pursued advanced studies in the history of media arts at Danube University in Austria.
Since 1995, Al Tawil has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions both locally and internationally. His works are held in collections and exhibited in prestigious museums worldwide, especially in Germany and Egypt, establishing his position as a leading figure among his generation in the contemporary visual art scene.
About the Critic: Fatma Ali
Fatma Ali has served as a critic and managing editor for renowned art magazines. She has held key positions and participated in various jury panels for major art exhibitions. As a curator of contemporary Egyptian art in Dubai, she brings together deep critical insights with both local and international art studies. Known for her distinctive critical style, Ali reveals the hidden layers of art in a unique manner. She received the State Incentive Award in Art Criticism in 2009 and has authored several important critical works, including a study on the eminent Egyptian artist Hamed Nada, as well as a critical book on the philosophical vision of contemporary photographer Samir Fouad’s works.

صدر حديثًا عن دار ديوان للنشر، كتاب جديد بعنوان “فنان الوسائط المتعددة سامح الطويل”، دراسة نقدية تحليلية، بقلم الناقدة الفنية الكبيرة فاطمة علي.

يهدف الكتاب إلى تقديم فهم عميق لتجربة سامح الطويل الفنية من خلال بحث وتحليل مايقارب 30 مشروعا من أبرز أعماله، ويجمع الكتاب بين السيرة الفنية للطويل ورحلة هجرته من مصر إلى ألمانيا في أوائل الألفية، وتأثير التغيرات الاجتماعية والجيوسياسية التي شهدتها مصر والوطن العربي والعالم على تجربته الفنية. الكتاب مدعوم بأكواد قابلة للمسح لاتاحة الفرصة للقارئ للاستمتاع بمشاهدة والانغماس في مشاريع سامح الطويل من خلال مقاطع الفيديو.

الفنان سامح الطويل، مواليد القاهرة، 1978 هو فنان بصري مصري- ألماني يقيم حالياً في فرانكفورت، بألمانيا، يتميز بتجربته الديناميكية في الفن المعاصر، حيث يدمج بين الفنون البصرية والرقمية وفن الأداء والموسيقى. يتجاوز نهجه متعدد التخصصات الحدود التقليدية، مستخدما تقنيات متقدمة مثل الذكاء االصطناعي، الواقع المعزز (AR)، والواقع الافتراضي.(VR).
تستكشف أعمال سامح الطويل قضايا معقدة مثل الهوية والحرية في سياق علم الاجتماع والجغرافيا السياسية المعاصرة. حصل على بكالوريوس من كلية الفنون التطبيقية في مصر ودبلوم عال من أكاديمية الفنون الجميلة في ميونخ، بالإضافة إلى دراسات متقدمة في تاريخ فنون الوسائط في جامعة دانوب بالنمسا.
منذ 1995، شارك الطويل في معارض فردية ومحلية ودولية عديدة، تقتنى وتُعرض أعماله في متاحف مرموقة حول العالم وخاصة في ألمانيا ومصر، مما يعزز مكانته كرائد بين أبناء جيله في مشهد الفن البصري المعاصر.
أما الناقدة فاطمة علي، عملت كناقدة ومدير تحرير في مجلات فنية مرموقة. شغلت مناصب هامة وشاركت في العديد من لجان تحكيم كبري المعارض الفنية، عملت كقوميسير الفن المصري المعاصر في دبي وتجمع في مسيرتها بني النقد العميق والدراسات الفنية المحلية والدولية، اشتُهرت بأسلوبها النقدي المميز وكشفها عن خفايا الفن بطريقة فريدة، حازت على جائزة الدولة التشجيعية في النقد التشكيلي عام 2009، وأصدرت العديد من الكتب النقدية الهامة، منها كتابها عن فنان مصر الكبير حامد ندا، كما قامت بتأليف كتاب نقدي عن الرؤية الفلسفية لأعمال المصور المعاصر سمير فؤاد.
